Hotel Gomassine is located in Gueliz, which is a modern European design district of Marrakech. This makes the experience completely different but just as exciting from Medina old town. It is the mainstream part of the city and you would exactly be there. Wide mall promenade, Avenue Mohammed V is only a few minutes distance that can be spent to enjoy the view on foot; unlike Old Town skinny streets, Gueliz streets are heaven for window-watchers, nice terrace café lovers, and art lovers. The neighborhood is safe and clean and reflects modernity.
Its walkability is unparalleled for a buyer. It’s only a 5-10 minute amble from the Carré Eden shopping center, a modern, multi-story mall with a large Carrefour supermarket in the basement and plenty of international brands such as H&M and Starbucks. Just to have your mini fridge filled without ordeal. There is Plaz 16 de Noviembre main, the heart of Gueliz so very busy and vibrant. A plethora of high end boutiques, chic Moroccan design stores and some familiar European shops ensures a very comfortable and entertaining afternoon walk.
Another great attraction in the area is, certainly, the dining scene. If the Medina boasts its traditional tagines, it’s in Gueliz where you will find the heart of Marrakech’s modern culinary scene. French brasseries, hip bistros, Italian pizzerias, and great international restaurants are just among some of your options within a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The region is also known for hearty cafe culture support with just one walk you are able to, for instance, get to a legendary Grand Cafe de la Poste and sit on the terrace with coffee or evening aperitif and take in ‘New City’ views.
The hotel is not in the Old City but two of Marrakech’s most famous cultural attractions are within a pleasant walk. The beautiful Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum adjacent to it are a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. That’s a huge plus because you can easily be there in the morning before the big tour groups come. You can even easily get to the main rail station within about 15 minutes and do great day trips from the national train service right from the hotel.
